Family-owned Jordan Wine Estate, situated in Stellenbosch, South Africa, the heart of the Cape Winelands, has been transformed to become one of the leading estates in South Africa. Featuring a wine tasting centre, luxury accommodation, a delicatessen-style bakery and a world-class restaurant where visitors can relax and enjoy fine Cape wines and local Cape fare surrounded by breathtaking views of the vineyards. Jordan Wine Estate boasts spectacular panoramic views of Table Mountain, False Bay and the Stellenbosch Mountains.
Unique by nature’s design, the Jordan slopes face North (where Cabernet Sauvignon excels), South (where Sauvignon Blanc competes with the best in the world), East (where Chardonnay produces Burgundian-like white wines) and West (where the Syrah vineyards enjoy the afternoon sun and gravelly soils). The ancient soils have evolved from 600 million year old Cape granite and range from deep, well-drained clay-loam to gravelly and sandy soils situated on clay. Vineyard elevations are between 150 and 410 meters above sea level. The Indian Ocean lies 15 kilometres to the South with the Atlantic Ocean lying 24 kilometres to the West, allowing the Jordan Family to specialize with classic varieties suited to the various micro- climates. The state-of-the-art cellar is designed around a gravity flow system using natural cooling with fermentation and aging taking place in underground cellars.

Sjaak grew up in the vineyards on a Tulbagh Estate. Although surrounded by vines he went to Boland College to study Financial Management for 3 years. Once graduated and in need of work he went to assist for a week at Tulbagh Co-op. A week turned into 3 years as he made himself indispensable. Here, Sjaak learned the grading of grapes and the importance of quality of quantity. He moved on after successfully managing 3 harvests, to Saxenburg, a Stellenbosch wine estate. It didn’t take long before he moved over to his neighbours at Jordan Wine Estate.
20 years later, Sjaak has proved himself year after year by producing award-winning wines with Gary & Kathy Jordan.
Sjaak is part of the Jordan family and knows each corner of the winery inside and out. If he is not in the cellar he is on his bike cycling the mountain ranges of the Cape
